Won the Formula One World Championship 1975, 1977, and 1984. He was also runner-up 1976, just six weeks after having a serious accident at Nurburgring, Germany. Lauda was Formula Two champion 1972, and drove for March, BRM, Ferrari, and Brabham before his retirement 1978. He returned to the sport 1984 and won his third world title in a McLaren before eventually retiring 1985 to concentrate on his airline business, Lauda-Air. He now also acts as an advisor to the Ferrari team.
